Lo-Fi Composition
Title: The Life of Objects

The purpose of this piece, if there is one, is to engage materials and objects as living entities, and as such we will speak with them and treat them as people, to a certain extent, whilst recognising their alien nature. Out of this process sounds will emerge, the music of sound or MuSound will act as an interface between us all, enveloping us and interacting with us as we engage in an act of co-creation.
Steps of the piece:
1. Collect ONE object that you may find around your home or in a skip or wherever. Nothing to dangerous to handle, sharp or slimy , dirty or anything like that that may be a health and safety hazard please.
2. Bring this object to the workshop on the 5th of October.
3. As we sit around the circle, select one object. Meditate on its origin. The materials that it is made from. Where those materials came from how they were mined, processed and then put together as an object and the journey it all took from the source of material to the hand that it is in now.
4. Now talk or sing to the object, introduce yourself, say hello, say hello to all those who partook in its journey to your hand, the miners, the factory workers, the animals and plants, the geological formations. Etc talk to the object how you wish and welcome it to Lo-Fi, let it know we are about to make some MuSound together, and with other objects. Etc.
5. Take a photo of your object and send it to the Lo-Fi Whapp Group.
6. Place your object on the circle that will be drawn at the centre of the circle
7. Someone stands in the centre of the circle and forward photos from the Whapp to individuals around the circle.
8. Pick up the object that you have received on your phone. Preferably your phone sound is on so it makes sound when you receive the message.
9. Make sounds with the object you have picked up whilst walking around the circle.
10. Sit down with your object and make sounds with it in conjunction with your normal instrument or voice.
11. Put Object back in middle of circle.
12. Sit back down, people get up and enter the circle and pick up objects, if you have that object on your phone you make sounds with your instrument.
13. 1 minute silence.
